Can I sell books that are not university textbooks?

For now, we mainly focus on books used at Utrecht University, but feel free to bring any book you’d like! Just follow the Sell a Book instructions and we’ll publish the book on our website.

Where exactly is the Green Office pick-up and drop-off location?

The Green Office is located at Heidelberglaan 8, 3584, Utrecht.

What are the terms and conditions for selling a book through LoopLearn?

1. About LoopLearn. We are a non-profit, social enterprise where Utrecht University students can buy and sell their books in-person. Sellers have to drop off their books, fill in a form, and wait until their book is sold. This might take a while, depending on which academic period the textbook is used/needed.

2. Why choose LoopLearn? LoopLearn only deducts a 10% fee for sellers, while other platforms charge additional fees and up to 6 euros in shipping. All you do is drop off the book with the seller form. No more bargaining with buyers on Marktplaats and shipping your book!

3. Pricing. The prices are set fairly based on the price of the new textbook and the condition of the current textbook. The formula used to set prices is shown at the end of the page; sellers can request to sell their textbook at a lower price than the pricing formula (e.g., if you want to sell the textbook faster at a cheaper price). You cannot request to sell the textbook at a higher price than the pricing formula. According to the pricing formula, a textbook in perfect condition will be sold at 50% of the new textbook price. (Look at Pricing Formula below for the explanation).

4. Drop off. You can drop off your textbook at the Green Office on Utrecht Science Park. The address is Heidelberglaan 8, 0 44, 3584 CS Utrecht. At the Green Office there is a LoopLearn drop-off station; here you can find a physical paper form to fill in. Once you’re done, place it into the first page of the textbook.

5. Selling. Once a buyer is found and a payment has been made, we will transfer the sum to the IBAN you provided us through the paper form and send you a confirmation email. A 10% fee is deducted to cover administration costs. Therefore, you receive an amount equal to the selling price set by the pricing formula, minus 10%.

6. Unsold books. In case the book is not sold, it may be picked up or held for a future sale for up to 3 years. After 3 years, all unsold books must be picked up otherwise they will be donated. Owners can take back their books only during the academic year (not during summer break) by sending an email to looplearn.u@gmail.com and providing all necessary information. Once a textbook is sold through, requesting it back is not possible.

7. Buyers. All books may be purchased through the website, Instagram account (@looplearn.utrecht) or the WhatsApp catalogue (+31 6 2051156). The books are sold to whoever reserves and makes the payment first. Refunds can be processed if the quality/edition does not match the description. Pricin g Formula : All books are set at 50% off and 7.5% is lost for each quality downgrade. Selling Price = New Book Price * [0.5 - [(Condition−1)×0.075]] Conditions of the book (taking into consideration the amount of hand-made notes/highlights/drawings/etc.)

1 = Perfect / Like new

2 = Good / Just very few notes

3 = Satisfactory / Some notes

4 = Bad / Many notes
